On our second night in Cambodia, we had a table reserved at the Koulen Restaurant. Situated a 10 minute walk from Jasmine Lodge where we were staying, it was super easy to get to and quite central!
Koulen Restaurant is a buffet of International cuisines that seats over 650 people! When abroad, I love to eat the local food when I go somewhere, however, after a month without some of my favourite foods, I couldn’t resist. I filled up on pizza, a vegetarian spaghetti bolognese, garlic bread and even some Indian appetisers!
At 7pm, the whole restaurant is entertained by a show of traditional Cambodian Dancers. With both male and female dancers, this unique style was mesmerising. We were told of the dedication these women put into training their hands to move in these ways – up at 5am to to hand exercises for a few hours every morning!! The costumes were so pretty too, each dance saw a different costume and narrative!
I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Siem Reap. With such a wide variety of foods, the show is something not to be missed. I was so drawn in by this fascinating style of dance!
