Sightseeing in Buriram

On July 12th, we took a truck to go see some sights in the city of Buriram. About 30 minutes drive away, I really wanted to make the most of my time here and see as much as possible.
The first thing I visited Phanom Rung National Park which is an extinct volcano. With 297 steps to climb, the top had some beautiful views. The main reason for this climb was to see the giant Buddha at the top. These have been my favourite things to do here in Thailand, of course. They really are beautiful!!
The Buddha at the top of Phanom Rung was absolutely huge! Facing towards the view, overlooking the city too, you couldnโ€™t miss it. Even in the distance you can see the sun reflecting off it on top of the volcano. Sat at the top in the sun looking at the Buddha was one of the most tranquil things I have done so far.
After this, we were able to cross a suspension bridge across the old crater. It really looked nothing like a volcano anymore, there was so much greenery!
We then headed to the Buriram Stadium which was cool as I hadnโ€™t seen it yet. I didnโ€™t even realise how much of a big team they were till I saw the trophies! Next to the stadium is a new complex called Buriram Castle. Located next to an old temple, this complex has shops and restaurants, gardens and also a unique display of Kamasutra carvings, all carved into large pierces of stone. Buriram Castle has only been open since February but is already a big tourist attraction! It offers a mix between traditional Khmer Hindu art and modern lifestyle!
