Jorge Molder – Rich Man Poor Man Beggar Man Thief

On May 1st, I visited the Circulo de Bellas Artes in Madrid as I wanted to visit the Jorge Molder Exhibition titles ‘Rich Man Poor Man Beggar Man Thief’. Molder is a Portuguese Photographer who originally studied Philosophy in Lisbon.

This exhibition shows a selected 50 or so photographs from Molder’s most significant series datingf rom 1990 to the present day. His work is linked with other arts including; literature, sculpture and painting – essence of these can be seen in the exhibition whilst Molder becomes a critic to himself in his work and the space around him.

This exhibition was different to anything I have really seen before, with such a quirky take on his work, it was sometimes difficult to work out the meaning behind each photograph. But this can be a good thing at times. My favourite thing about Molder’s exhibition was how large scale the prints were. I always prefer exhibitions with larger prints – I feel more involved and drawn in.
